Last night, Kaela, Ben and I went to a really super-great kids' consignment sale. I won't even describe the brand new bathing suits, Easter outfits, and name brand summer clothes we scored, because that's not the point (but email me if you want to know more, because it really was super-great & we are now fully outfitted for the summer for what I would've paid for the bathing suits!!!!) The point is, lots of people knew about this sale, and while we only shopped for about 40 minutes, we stood in line to pay for well over an hour.
We were almost to the cash registers when Ben announced he needed to go potty. NO WAY was I stepping out of that line. So I asked Kaela to take him into the restroom which was right around the corner from me, and to be sure he washed his hands.
She came out and said, "Mommy, Ben said he doesn't like you anymore because you made him go into the girls' restroom. He told a bunch of the ladies in there that he never wants to like you again."
And Ben, quick as a flash, jumped in without even blinking an eye. "Ach-u-a-wee, Mom, what I said is that you're da greatest Mom in the world!"
That is one SMOOTH little liar we're rearing there.... :-)
Also quotable from yesterday, a conversation I never imagined myself having with another adult.....
B--Hey, Amy?
Me--What's up, friend?
B--Wanna know the coolest thing about having the H1N1 virus?
Me--Um....not really?
B--Listen, it was cool. Every single time you run to the bathroom, you can pretend you're a fire-breathing dragon who's annihilating entire villages with the incredible force behind each spew!
Me--I think I'm scarred for life.
B--(wretching) BWAHHHHHHHHH! You're welcome.
And one more from Kaela...
K....OH! Is that Goodwill? All my life I thought we were giving toys and clothes to some kid who played nicely with others and took care of his things and didn't mind so much if we gave him girls' clothes or boys' clothes or toys that were more for babies because he's so good....I'm glad we haven't been doing that to him, aren't you, Mom?
