I'm thrilled about Sarah Palin. I try really hard to keep my political musings in my head, but...I just am!
I believe she's uniquely positioned to shine public attention on our children with disabilities. On life--when it's messy, or imperfect, or unplanned--but chosen. Chosen! Have you heard all the conversations about life and its worth, just in the past couple of weeks? It's like people are thinking about it again! We needed a catalyst like that!
Other than that, I don't want to delve too deeply into politics in this post (or on this blog). So I'll just say this: There are days in my job when I'm exhausted, and feel inadequate, and sometimes worried. I have children who tend to get lost, who live with life-threatening food allergies, and who have never been invited to a birthday party. I love these children, and am challenged, even in the past week, to learn more to be a better teacher for them. This week, I am reminded again of the families that these children belong to. Their families love them, too. I know it when I get homework turned in in Mom's handwriting, when I get gift cards for making a "good" phone call home, and when I see little Piper Palin spit-arrange her brother's hair while her mom accepts the Republican nomination for Vice President of the United States.
How normal. How beautiful. How much a demonstration of what Christ has done for each of us imperfect folks if we have placed our trust in Him.
