Who Needs MapQuest? (and more Ben)

Last week when we didn't have any power, there were a couple of times when I wanted to go somewhere, but didn't know how to get there. I use MapQuest--a lot! One day, the kids wanted to go to the library where their Aunt Emily works. Her branch is kinda far from here, though, and I'm not sure how to get there, so I told them we could just go to the branch out here since I would get us lost.

Ben piped up (which is funny, because he's just now really getting involved in family discussions, having an opinion, and knowing the answers to some questions) and said, "I do! I know how to get there! You just get in the car and you drive a real long time. When you get to the stoplight, you go straight froo it. Then you pass Gwandma's work, and that's where it is!"

You know what? Crazy thing--he was right!

Tonight he's entertained us all evening doing this circus routine--he makes up the funniest stuff, and he's naturally kind of an entertainer. He doesn't have to try too hard to be funny. Eric says he's more "my child" because he always has mischief behind his twinkling eyes. I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not, but it's a pretty apt assessment, probably. (He also has a temper, which flares easily, and diminishes just as quickly and easily. That's from my side of the family, too. hehe)

Yesterday, there was purple marker on the wall. Ben had a purple marker in his hand, lid off. Eric asked him how the marker got on the wall. "I don't know, maybe Ka-ya did it," he shrugged. (Uh-huh...sure...)

He's definitely our child with the independent streak. And he's so much fun! :) Though the poor thing gets in trouble more than any child should...he's always smiling, always ready to make up, and always full of hugs and kisses and goodwill.

I love..."maybe Ka-ya did it" :) Yeah, that option doesn't work for an only child. ;)

You should not waste your time with MapQuest. Much better: maps.google.com. Give it a try.
