Yesterday, once we were assured that our report was right the very first time (imagine the angels singing there!), I was hoping to go out and celebrate by drinking an espresso and kicking up my heels! Instead, I found myself after school in a long faculty meeting. Except, I had left all my "faculties" in the special ed. report, so I was pretty looped. I was doing well just to stay in my seat. At one point, I leaned over to one of my favorite people at my table and whispered, "Can you see the knot between my shoulder blades? It's been there so long I think it's petrified and turned into a hump!" then flexed my back muscles for her. She started giggling, then, and drew this:
It was pretty sobering, in a funny kind of way, considering the stress of late and the fact that my birthday was this past weekend and I feel about half dead....If you can't tell what it is, it's a timeline of our lives, from infancy to death, and we're the big X very close to death that says, "You are here." The rest of the faculty meeting was a wash for our team....
But anyway, I decided that in regaining my life, I should share a few photos from the past two weeks from my REAL life (the one that doesn't have to do with service codes and disability labels). These make me smile.
The Christmas tree our children decorated on my birthday with their friends--our friends' kids.
Notice that there are no ornaments on the top.
Kid art.
The gingerbread houses we attempted this afternoon.

This last one was tiger feeding time at the zoo the other day. The tiger was RIGHT by the window where we stood. You ever wonder what's inside an antelope hoof? Now you know.
