Facebook Style Posting (again)

Amy is....

ECSTATIC. My sweet child with the missing corpus colossum aced the math test. And is able to use my touchscreen iPhone to navigate the entire world, with very little help from me. And is learning to do so many cool things, independently. I'm learning to speak fluent assistive technology after this weekend's benefit tour, conversation, and concert at Home of the Innocents. And I LOVE it!!!! I'm inspired by the difference in quality of life that technology can make. If you have suggestions for tools to use for visual or orthopedic impairments, please email me! Oh, what a little inspiration & imagination can do.

THANKFUL. My friend who was laid off this year got a teaching job. Making more money, closer to his home. Thank you, Lord, for answered prayers.

TICKLED by this conversation from the backseat today:
Ben: Mom, what can I be for Halloween?
Me: A germ. (Teasing, I promise)
Ben: Awww, man!!!!
Kaela: Are germs even alive?
Me: I think so. But they don't eat....I don't know. We'll double check.
Ben: If germs are awive, do day go to Heaven or Hell when they die?
Me: (laughing) Neither. They're just, like, cells. They don't have souls that live forever.
Kaela: But if they DID, what do you think, Ben? They're bad. They make you sick.
Ben: Yep. They'd go to Hell. I don't want to be anything that goes to Hell for Halloween.
OK, then....that's some interesting costume criteria... :-)

READING like a fiend on this book club book that has to be done by Thursday. If the book weighs about 6 lbs., I have about 5.9 lbs. more to wade through. Ugh. But I like it. It's called Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese. I wouldn't have chosen it. But it's interesting.

LOVING these quotes from Elisabeth Elliot via a friend today: "We cannot give our hearts to God and keep our bodies for ourselves."
AND
‎"When we recognize self-control as the virtue that spares us from sin's negative consequences, we will welcome it eagerly as our friend."
Amen.

SAD that I missed church last night because I was too distracted to focus on the Truth.

FINALLY including a few shots from my classroom. There are more bright posters hanging now to add colorful interest, and much more clutter and half-finished artwork...but here it is anyway. It smells like vanilla. :-) I'm painting the long bulletin board wall lime green on fall break for a shot of fun. Sometimes it's just the small things.... :-)

LOOKING FORWARD to a long weekend visiting dear friends, and trying not to stress about the number of people who will be in our messy house on Monday.... :-)

SIGNING OFF so that I can snuggle with my daughter and our respective books for a few more minutes....

Your classroom looks so fun and colorful and cool!

Those Elizabeth Elliot quotes are wonderful. I love the first one, especially.
