Small pleasures

Since I've quit reading the newspaper, I've really been noticing those little daily joys more (although when I signed on, I did notice that Romney won Michigan...Wow, a total toss-up for '08, huh??)
I told my friend Rose that I would like to come up with a Top 10 list, but I'm not witty enough to make it funny. That being the case, here is just a list of 10 of my most favorite things in this wacky, brief, confusing, difficult, amazing life--in no particular order:

*The first couple of episodes of American Idol each season. Wow, did anybody else see the guy who got his body waxed tonight? Or the guy who sang "Go Down, Moses?" What about the Stalker song for Paula???? Good stuff! :)

*There are a few minutes each afternoon after I pack my kiddos up for the bus and before I do carpool duty where I can grab a dark-chocolate covered almond on the way to the gym. Those things are amazing, and keep me sane while 500 little people frantically head toward their destinations around me.

*Starbucks Doubleshots, in the black can, cold. (The Light version is a distant second, but will work in a pinch)

*Sharing a mental joke with someone who knows me well enough to catch on without words having to pass between us

*Good conversation (sometimes debate) with people who are similar enough to me for there to be common ground, but different enough to keep things interesting...iron sharpens iron, and all that...

*My IPod shuffle where every song is my favorite one, and the choices range from a capella to country to 80's monster ballads to show tunes to praise & worship

*Being home in Breck. County when everyone else is there, too

*Reading

*The sound of laughter when Eric comes home in a silly mood and has one child on his shoulders and the other under his arm while he makes monster noises

*Going to a demolition derby/riding a 4-wheeler/parasailing/or getting out on the jet-ski or motorboat for a day on the river. These tie, and are pretty close to as good as it gets!
