You know what I learned at the planetarium today? I learned that if a human were ever to go into space, then step out of the spaceship, then stick one toe into a black hole, that the black hole would first stretch the person out like a spaghetti noodle, and then dismantle the person altogether, atom by atom, and scatter the atoms into space.
Isn't that crazy? I thought about how scientists figure out stuff like that, briefly considered folks I'd like to test the theory on (just kidding!) and then finally had a revelation: THIS must be what happens to my text messages!!!
I already know that there's a force field around my school computer that keeps me from getting emails that I email from home--particularly if, say, I've got a huge meeting coming up and stayed up all night working on the paperwork.
But the text messaging thing? What is UP with that? Just this past Sunday, for example, I was sitting in choir practice and decided to text my brother about a land transfer that we're working on. He didn't reply. First thing Monday morning, my dentist's receptionist, Suzanne, left me a funny message about appreciating my legal information.
I can READ. I promise! And text messaging isn't exactly rocket science, right?
So then I figured that my new texts were going to the last person I had texted. So I would just have to send each text twice. That worked for about 2 days...then they started deleting from my phone as if they'd never existed. Weird!
Yesterday, I was texting my mom. She never received it. I have no record of it on my phone.
I was totally stumped until I heard about this black hole thing today. Suddenly it's all becoming very clear. My texts must bounce off my work force field, then slip into the black hole where they are dissected, pixel by pixel.
Do you think that's it? Do you think it's my phone, or my service provider? Or maybe cell phones, like pets, begin to resemble their owners after awhile. I do, (shhh), have some random tendencies...
Ah, well. If I text you and it doesn't make sense...sorry. If I text you and it DOES make sense...it may have been meant for someone else. And if I don't text you at all...my cell phone is lost. :) At least now I know where it could be...
