School's almost out for the year! Thank God! :) Not because I don't love my school kids--I do! But the end of the year is filled with activity, mayhem, spring fever and paperwork--and kids were meant to be outside during this time!
Here are a few snippets from the last couple of weeks:
*Eric and I took my school kids and our home kids fishing a couple of weeks ago. The parents came too, we fished for a couple of hours, then picnicked in the park and played on the playground. We had such a blast, and great turnout! Several staff members and their families came along, too. I'll bet half the kids had never been fishing. I love these kids. I seriously do.
*Last week, we took an amazing field trip to a place that simulates real-life, economically. The kids all had jobs, and spent the day running businesses, cashing paychecks, and taking lunch breaks. There was even a radio station, and we had DJs who played tunes and took requests all day. (If you see me on YouTube dancing the Electric Slide, just keep moving. I was coerced. lol!) The kids worked until they were DONE, and it was time to go home...but when we went to load the buses, they weren't outside! An hour later (and countless gray hairs!), the buses arrived. I calculated the days until retirement during that hour. I still have awhile....
*I'm excited about our new principal! I love my current principal, and was a little anxious about having a new one. Now, I think it will be a good fit, and a good situation. I'm also really excited about some of our new teachers. Christians!! Thank you, Lord.
*Meetings, meetings, meetings! Oh, and more meetings! Gotta get these babies to the right middle schools, with their paperwork completed. Whew!
*I absolutely cannot wait to be home this summer all the time. The last two weeks have just been too busy. We've taken our children along to most things, but I'm ready to just unwind, sleep late, play, swim, and enjoy my own children. It will feel so wonderful next week to un-enroll them from preschool.
