Happy New Year!!!

Winter break is winding down.
(Heavy sigh)
What an incredible time of refueling, recharging, reevaluating, and recommitting. I've worked on a few New Year's Resolutions, but they're more ideas than specifics. Here's a sample:

This year, I want to...

...reevaluate what I blog. I want this blog to be edifying, not the story of Amy. I'm a vapor--here for a short time. I want my life to point to Christ. Even when I blog about meth labs or playground fights or climbing the water tower. Oops--don't think I've blogged that yet. :-)
Will you help keep me accountable?

...laugh more, and worry less.

...try really, really hard not to miss the forest for the trees. I am so blessed to work with and live among PEOPLE. Not test scores, paperwork, reading logs, phonics drills, or toothbrushing inspections.

...give more. Time. Money. Love. Attention.

Hmm....I think that's all I want to say right now. I love the beginning of a "New Year." It feels like a new slate, somehow. A chance to right all the wrongs I've committed in the last year. There have been plenty. I'm so thankful that God's mercies don't wait an entire year to renew. That the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, and His mercies never come to an end. They are NEW every morning! Great is your faithfulness, oh Lord! (Lamentations 3:22-23)
Wow.

Well--I thought of 2 more random thoughts. I really wish I were better at tying these into my post topic. I'm getting into a "make up a post, then add some random stuff at the end" kind of mode. Sorry, for you organized types. Be glad you don't live inside my head. :-)
Anyhoo....2 thoughts:

1) Ben woke up from his nap today and asked, "Mommy, what kind of world do we live in where people won't even buy a sad little sock monkey?" I have no idea what that means...but isn't that a great question? :) I don't want to live in that kind of place--do you?

2) Did you catch the moon tonight? The air is so cold and clear that I can see downtown from the malls tonight. And the moon is absolutely incredible. Go check it out if it's still dark while you're reading this! :) I have no idea how people can be unsure about the existence of God. Even when I was lost as can be, I could still look up and see that moon or that sky full of stars....
It still takes my breath away.
