Photos of Goings On

I have writer's block.
I've had several emails recently from people who read my blog. I don't know them. I realize that when you write on the internet that strangers have the capability to read my thoughts...but still. I should blog less transparently. :-) Any other bloggers out there ever have that, "Oh my goodness, I just said that on the internet!!" kind of too-exposed panicky feeling? It'll pass...but for now, I'm kinda mute.

Since I'm short on words, I thought I'd share a few photos. The first couple are from the kids playing with some of the neighborhood 6th grade math/science end-of-the-year projects. They build cars using what they know about proportion, force, speed and velocity--then race them. Then they take them home and the littler neighborhood kids try to launch each other down driveways and into culverts. Here are my children's attempts (with their BFF and trusty next-door sidekick).

After the cars shots are the ones from when the firemen came door to door collecting donations for Crusade for Children. They also let the kids take a ride! Too cool!

Then, there's a shot of Kaela receiving the math achievement award for kindergarten and first grade this year. She's in the photo--that's the back of her head--I promise! I included it for a couple of reasons: 1) It is evidence that God has a sense of humor. How is my child good at MATH?? and 2) See her teacher in the feather boa and formal regalia? That's how we dressed for the last day of school. It was a prank for my principal, who had sent umpteen million emails asking us to please, please, PLEASE look nice for our students' last day. When he says "jump"..... :-)
I wore a lavender bridesmaid dress with a tiara and sparkly elbow-length gloves with a sassy chignon. Several of the little kids even asked me, honest to goodness, if I was Cinderella! I forgot to take a picture (we were trying so hard to be incognito until we were discovered by our boss!) but I did get a shot of my co-worker. She's pretty representative of how we all dressed. That's her in the teal.

I have a few more of our BFG fellowship the other night, but the computer's acting all tempermental, so I'll save those.
