Special Eddies Take Their Show On The Road

Just got home from a great couple of days on Nolin Lake with some of my most fun friends!
We call ourselves the Special Eddies. This was my special ed. team one year (2002-03). It was the kind of year that you would volunteer to, um, administer enemas or dig trenches rather than repeat. It was the year that I almost quit teaching altogether. I cried every. single. day.

These girls were my sanity. We were split up after that one year, and we now teach at every school in the county--but none of us together anymore. We still have dinner once a month, though, and rehash old times.

Since that year, 2 of our group have had cancer. One has gone through surgical menopause. We have added 3 babies. We have attended weddings and baptisms and funerals. We laugh hard. Often.

This week, we learned to boat without the guys. We talked theology, engineering, organic gardening, sang country music and hymns (loudly), watched a chick flick (until a certain unnamed Eddie snored so loud we couldn't hear anymore...) and planned a mission trip to Guatemala together (that may or may not happen.) We also chose our funeral music (so if I die, call one of them), defined true love, and played Truth or Consequences (I nearly died laughing, you lying fools!!)

Mary C, Mary D, Lora, Julie, Anne--You're the best! Thanks for the great couple of days, and the stories! :) And look out, IKEA. You're next.
