Cabin Fever to the infinite degree

Spring fevers in the past for me have amounted to a burning desire to go to Gatlinburg and wander around Cade's Cove. Occasionally, I'll suggest something crazy like a 4-day jaunt to the beach (which Eric has never taken me up on).

This year, spring fever is taking on a life of its own. After the longest, longest, llllooooonnnnngggesssst winter in the history of the world, this morning I found myself on Travelocity pricing trips to New York City, Florida, Arizona and Guatemala--like, before I even thought about what I was doing! Can you say RESTLESS?

I've always been free-spirited. Probably if you were to describe me in 5 words, restless/nomadic/wanderlust would be one of them. I get it honest. My dad once flew to Nevada with a pilot buddy in the middle of the night and was home by the time we woke up. He also considered moving us to China to be missionaries at one time. My mom's in Florida right now with two of my brothers, and another brother is in New York; my step-sister is in Washington D.C. I once signed up to teach English in China for 2 years, and another time I booked a vacation by myself to Montreal to stay in a hostel, but Eric and I were dating then and he convinced me it may not be safe for me to wander around Canada for a week alone.

Unfortunately for this particular itchy situation, gas costs $3.45 a gallon. That renders even Clark Griswold-type family vacations unreasonable. Going anywhere by plane means 4 plane tickets...ouch, no matter what your budget is. I don't want to go anywhere without my family. Does anyone have any ideas for inexpensive family fun around here??? Even the Creation Museum is a little pricey for right now. It's too cold to sleep in the treehouse again, too.
