Last night before I went to church for our choir concert, I stopped at Old Navy where I found these pants for $3.50. I was pumped! They're men's, so they're plenty long, no matter what happens in our laundry later. :)
So I took them home and asked Eric, "Hey, Sweetie? Like my new uniform? 'Cause I'm living in these babies for the rest of the winter."
"They're hot," he replied, deadpan.
"Well, I didn't buy them to be 'hot,' I bought them because it's St. Patrick's Day. AND, I think I'm wearing them to school tomorrow."
"Oh, is it 'Dress like a schmuck day?'"
Aaack. My confidence was wavering, even as I was laughing. "No...it's St. Patrick's Day. Duh. Why? Are they really that stupid looking?"
"Uh, I don't know. Do people normally wear their pajamas to work in your school?"
I decided to call my autistic 75-year old buddy for moral support. He would understand my fashion creativity.
"Hey, Wild B! What do you think about my wearing leprechaun pants to school tomorrow?"
"Uh, I don't know, Buddy. Sounds like wearing your drawers outside to me, but you do what you want."
Aargh.

I wore them anyway, but hid out in my classroom the first part of the morning. Eric had warned me again in his best Yoda voice that "likely to be mocked am I." I know he was trying to look out for me...I tried not to pinch him in his lack of holiday green adornment, but couldn't resist.
When my first group arrived, my reading group, this kid took one look at me and moaned, "Oh, dear God."
Adolescents.
Actually, for the most part, the crowds of onlookers that poked their heads in my room made affirming comments. I got my picture taken for the yearbook. Good grief. And all this time I thought I worked in an elementary school! Hasn't anyone ever seen leprechaun pants before?
I'll bet I sold 15 pairs today, in all.
So what do you think? Over the top, or all in the spirit of festivity?
