After months of cajoling, Eric finally sent me something to post in my blog. I'm looking at my to-do list while feeding my children cereal for supper (gasp!), forgoing baths again tonight, hunting for garbage bags since tomorrow's garbage day, really appreciating all he does to make our house a home....and he sends me this:
(A thought from the author)
With my brain dealing with a strange combination of sleep depravation, cold medicine, and Starbucks coffee, I feel it is a good time to document the top ten reasons that I love my wife. I think she will enjoy my list. If not, I can blame the previously mentioned ailments that I am dealing with. Three hours away from my family and I am already mushy!
Top 10 Reasons That I Love My Wife
1. She is a woman of faith and great character. (She truly cares about other people, and wants to help those in need. She is committed to teaching our children about Jesus, and leading a life a faith.)
2. She is a wonderful mother. (She really is. She enjoys our children, plays with our children, and when necessary, disciplines our children. She is the type of mother every child should have.)
3. She is smart. (Smarter than me. Okay, that is not saying much. She is smarter than most people that I know. She is a great writer and can talk politics with anyone. She is undefeated in debates, maybe a couple of draws over the years.)
4. She is funny. (She laughs at my jokes, so she must have a great sense of humor! She really approaches most things with a smile and a good attitude. She is not afraid to laugh at herself.)
5. She is beautiful. (She has beautiful smile, a smile that can turn my day around. After 10 years together and 2 kids, she is more beautiful than ever. I have told her this many times. Maybe when I write it down she will believe me.
6. She is creative. (Good trait to have when you are a mother and teacher!)
7. She is spontaneous. (I could walk in tomorrow and say let’s go to Seattle this weekend. Her response would be, “let’s pack”.
8. She loves her family. (She has a large family, a wonderful family. She somehow finds a way to keep track of all of them. She rejoices with them on the peaks and feels sorrow in the valleys. I wish they could see the pride on her face when she talks about their accomplishments.)
9. She has a wonderful taste in food. (Anything spicy or ethnic. Mine is the same. Good choice!)
10. She complements me. (She pushes me to go outside of my comfort zone. It does make me mad on occasion, but has also allowed me to accomplish and experience things that I would not have without her.)
I was praying for him earlier, just covering his days for the next week in prayer, and I realized what a poor job I do of really lifting him up, every single circumstance, every day. I think the way I'm praying for him this week should be the norm of my prayer life for my husband. Lord, I'm slow, but I'm learning!
He's amazing, and he just made my day. :)
